About Gord

Hello! My name is Gord McKay. I was born in Gander, Newfoundland and have lived in many regions of Canada. My career started as an Officer with the Department of National Defense; moved on to be a Senior Manager with Bank of Montreal; rose to the position of Principal with KPMG; and then founded and ran two entrepreneurial companies in marketing and sports technology.

My wife Cathy and I have two adult children, a son-in-law, and a beautiful granddaughter. We chose to move to Midland in 1999 and both became actively involved in helping our community. I have worked with a number of local organizations, serving as Head of Out of the Cold, Chair of the Martyrs' Shrine Board, Co-Founder of the Huronia Foundation for the Arts, and founder of the Economic Development Association of North Simcoe among others. I was elected to serve on Midland Council in 2007 and was elected Mayor in 2010.

I am driven by a passion to make Midland a prosperous and healthy community for all residents. I believe that through listening and collaboration we can achieve that goal together.
